Hi Pretty Birds,
I arrived in Milan 5:30 yesterday morning after an amazing and very much needed two-week vacation. After an intense year and four months, I was running low on energy and feeling mentally burned out. I even found myself frequently joking with friends about having difficulty stringing together my thoughts. Sometimes I wasn't joking though as I often found that I really couldn't think straight. Balancing my work at Grazia.it, the blog and other projects takes mega-multitasking energy and sometimes I just need to step back and take a break. Our last few vacations didn't work out quite as I planned however, with our October trip to NY coinciding with hurricane Sandy, and our Christmas break ruined as our entire family (I mean everyone) came down with the flu. So I took advantage of my son's Spring break to seek out the RESCUE that I desperately needed.
Totally inspired by my trip last Novermber to check out Citizens of Humanity's headquarters, I booked us a trip to LA where I knew that my son would enjoy iconic attractions like Disney Land, Universal Studios and where he could discover the awesome world of surfing. I didn't take too many pics because I essentially always take photos, regardless of who I am with, which is an activity that can be a bit disruptive when it comes to spending quality time with friends and family. Sounds weird right? Aren't you supposed to take photos when you're on vacation? I guess not when you are on my kind of trip. (Smirk).
And since we had 12 full days of vacation, coupled with the fact that I needed a touch of home, we spent the second part of or trip in New York. Family, friends, a trip to a newly reopened Coney Island a fun night at Miss Lily's, New York couldn't have been sweeter.
And, now I'm ready to jump back on the WONDER WHEEL of life and work. It's a new season. I have some exciting projects on the HORIZON. I'll be launching a new version of All the Pretty Birds within the next two months (hence the technical glitch that forced the blog down last week). The layout is gorgeous and designed by a very special friend. I have some other sweet stuff in my pockets as well, so please stay tuned. And thanks so much for stopping by!
