I thought I had solved all my travel-document dramas two seasons ago when I received a brilliant show invite-cum-passport and passport holder from the brand Hexa by Kuho. I no longer faced the risk of misplacing my passport, but what was I to do with my boarding ticket and any other travel related documents? From jacket pockets to the front compartment of my trolley, to the top pocket of my backpack, to inevitably not being able to find it at all, the inconvenience of the situations was getting old. Until now, thanks to my gorgeous travel wallet from Trussardi's newly launched capsule collection Travel Details.
Total love, especially because the range was designed to sustain the scientific research efforts of the Umberto Veronesi Foundation with regards to the health benefits of curcumin. Curcumin gives the gold color to the Indian spice Turmeric which is used in curries. It has been shown to exhibit antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and anticancer properties, and is considered a possible component in the treatment against diseases and conditions such as diabetes, arthritis, allergies, Alzheimer's disease and cancer. The scope of the Veronesi Foundation's research will be to test Curcumin's anti-tumor properties, with a specific focus on colon cancer.
There's nothing more that I love than chicness for a good cause. A perfect holiday gift, you can find the collection on the Trussardi on-line shop.
Lots of love from Switzerland! Tamu

So exited to be home, even if hurricane Sandy has shut everything down. Here are some pics that I took yesterday while walking through the West Village and Soho. In this pic, I'm enjoying brunch at the Noho Star. I had the Crab Cakes Benedict, Golden Pancakes with pure Maple Syrup and fries. Everything was super delicious.
1) Erin in a gorgeous chevron, diamond and stripe blanket sweater.
2) Love this girl standing alone in a deserted playground.
3) Tennis racket frames at Artsee Eyewear.
4) Love this mix of fringes, tweed, black jeans and boot clogs.

It's labor day and Summer vacation is officially over (not for me, I get three more days, thankfully). It's been a great stay for me here in East Hampton. I spent loads of time with my family which isn't always possible because of my work schedule and the fact that I live in Milan. Also, we were so happy to return to our annual East Hampton vacation, I mean look at this beach. Perfect for running, perfect for laying out, perfect for picnics...perfect for everything.
I'm not sad that Summer is over because I love the Autumn. I adore that first weekend when it's chilly enough to put on a chunky sweater and meet some friends for a four-hour brunch. And there is nothing like a drive to the countryside where the leaves have fallen golden, orange, maroon.
Then Winter will arrive and it will be time for trips to the Swiss Alps where the landscape is breathtakingly snow-white, pine-tree green and sky blue. And even though it's -2°F outside, your heart is warm and you feel like you are in heaven (really).
But, it won't be so heavenly in the city where the streets are grey and cold, and the desire for Spring temperatures will grow very strong. And before you know it, the days will grow longer and warmer and filled with perfumed blossoms.
And then before you know it, Summer will arrive and bring you back to old and familiar places.
Happy Labor Day, Tamu

I do. My favorites are by Jelly Belly, I love the popcorn flavor. So you can imagine that I would naturally fall in love with SUNO'S "Jelly Bean" print dress the moment I laid eyes on it. How pretty and playful? I wore it for an excursion into Montauk the other day.
Do you see the smile on my face? Just like a kid in a candy shop! Have a great candy-filled weekend!

A few weeks ago we visited my mother-in-law's country home and vineyard in Lornano, a tiny village near Siena, Tuscany. I am absolutely in paradise when ever we visit. Here are some reasons why:
Tuscany is breathtakingly beautiful. When you open your window in the morning you are immediately welcomed by gorgeous wheat colored fields, hunter green cypress and brilliant olive trees. The landscape is marvelous!
Lornano is located among the rolling hills of Chianti. I adore the homes in the region. Our home is ancient, the oldest part was built in the twelfth century. You get an idea of just how old it is in the image below where the wall is cracked behind the lemon plants. You feel the house's history all throughout its walls. It's been in my husband's family for over three generations. Although we don't go often enough, It always feels like home when we arrive. My husband's grandmother told me fantastic stories about the house while she was alive. She spent her summers there and even hosted American soldiers during WWII. She was very proud of this fact. One of my favorite stories that she shared is about the family's dog Whiskey, who fell into a depression one summer after the arrival of my husband who at the time was a super chubby baby. He apparently went on a hunger strike when he realized that he had to share the family's attention with my husband, a cheerful squeezable dumpling of an infant. The hunger strike ended one day when Whiskey walked by the legs of my husband's high chair at the moment that a soggy biscuit fell to the ground. Whiskey who interpreted this coincidence as a peace offering was inseparable from my husband for the rest of the summer. I wish I could say that they remained best friends, but my husband actually doesn't like animals, and I am pretty sure that he is afraid of dogs. There are countless other similar stories that make me smile and know we have some of our own. I remember when we brought my son there when he was five-weeks- old. He immediately seemed like a part of the place.
My son and his cousins love picking lemons from these plants.
An old door in the garden now sealed by stones and hidden behind a terracotta jug.
The dining room is decorated in traditional country style. I love this room. So many delicious meals, so many memorable conversations.
And flowers are not the only thing we collect. We are obsessed with our small vegetable garden where we grow tomatoes, eggplants, lettuce, basil and figs.
And how gorgeous are these lavender bushes on the border of the pool? In fact, lavender was the first fragrance that my son recognized. He would walk up to the bushes, point and say lavender. So cute. There's also rosemary, mint and oregano nearby. I have to say that these fragrances are such a nice contrast to the chlorine in the pool. Do you see why I think that this place is paradise?

Here are some of our favorite foods. From the top: tomatoes dressed in oil and basil; cantaloupe and prosciutto, pasta alla norma and peaches sprinkled with mint.

And no trip to Lornano would be complete without a jaunt to Siena. Before my son was born, we'd go for breakfast and long walks, now we go to chase the pigeons in Piazza del Campo. I know, gross, but children love pigeons and can run after them for hours. And a happy child is worth an hour or two near the winged rats. Trust me. Although I have to say that there weren't as many pigeons as expected this time around and we left pretty soon after arriving. Pfff.

On this trip we entered through the Onda (wave) contrada (district) because we wanted to park as close as possible to the piazza. Lornano actually falls into the Bruco (caterpillar) district. My husband is not pleased that I am posting these images of the Onda district, but he should have worked out the parking situation before we got there. Lol, just kidding.

And, finally a really fantastic bottle from the family vineyard. If you're ever in the neighborhood, stop by for a tasting. It's a really lovely place and a lovely vineyard. Cheers to a happy weekend. xo, Tamu

Before flying to Paris for couture, my family and I were snuggling at our summer apartment in Forte Dei Marmi. I spent the weekend admiring the beautiful Italian beach style. The women are so gorgeous, just riding around on their bikes and being various shades of nonchalant, beach-glamour chic. You know sun-kissed skin, perfect beach hair and brilliant beachwear. I met Camilla at Cafe Morin, a popular cafe in Forte. I'm totally inspired by her casual beach look. She's wearing shorts from Zara (the adorable ones that Jessica Stein of Tuula wore in Florence), a denim shirt by an Italian designer and wedges by Jeffrey Campbell.

While I was in Miami last month to celebrate my BFF's bachelorette party, I was lucky enough to meet up with Laure Heriard Dubreuil, the absolutely wonderful part owner of Miami's superbly stocked The Webster, for an interview and some photos for Grazia.it. It was such a fast and exhilarating meeting. I landed after a ten hour flight and went straight to boutique, and three hours later she flew to NYC. You should have seen her in action at the boutique. She's totally hands-on and oversees every aspect of the shop. So inspiring! As were all of the chic looks that she wore for the shoot ! Here are some of my favorite images. Hope you love them! xx
From top to bottom:
1. Dress by The Webster at Target, Necklace by Aurélie Bidermann.
2. Vintage YSL Jumper, Charlotte Olympia clutch, Pierre Hardy shoes
3. Top and Skirt Combo- Vintage YSL, Hermes Mini Birkin, Celine Platforms

As promised, a pic of me in my Proenza Schouler dress in Miami. Plus, a glimpse of the barbie-pink extra-stretch limo that we rented for my BFF's bachelorette party. Hey, don't make fun of the limo. I think it's a good compromise considering that we didn't require her to wear a veil with you-know-what little ones skimming her eyebrows. ;-). xx, Tamu

This picture of Sally Singer always makes me think of Summer. Even though the season doesn't officially start until June, Memorial day was always the start for me. Sally's midi-eyelet dress and mint green and white bike are so fresh and totally perfect for welcoming the warm weather. Hope you had an amazing weekend. XO, Tamu

It's Labor Day weekend here in Italy (the official date is May 1st) and beach season has officially started.
During the season, like many Milanese, my family can be found anywhere in Liguria (Santa Margherita, Paraggi and Portofino) or in Forte Dei Marmi (Forte) in Tuscany. This weekend we're in Forte having an easy, breezy time at Mare Chiaro beach club. Here are some pics that I snapped earlier today.
The beach town life is pretty amazing in Italy. Days are spent zipping around on bicycles fitted with wicker baskets, lounging under gorgeous cabanas, lunching on delicious seafood, walking along the beach with friends, fun dinners in the center of town, and lovely post-dinner walks. For sure another element of the Italian "bella vita."
